The final stage of the Garden Route Giro delivered a decisive conclusion to the womenโs race, with Mariรซlle Trouwborst underlining her dominance while Lisa Bone produced a strong response to secure second place overall.
Trouwborst attacked early on Stage 6, climbing clear of the field on Phantom Pass and steadily extending her advantage to claim both the stage win and overall title. Behind her, Bone showed improved form after a difficult Queen Stage, riding consistently to finish second on the day and cement her position in the general classification.
While unable to match Trouwborstโs climbing pace, Bone stayed clear of her closest rivalsโVera Looser, Cherise Willeit, and Catherine Krugerโensuring she held onto second overall.
Further back, Willeit once again delivered a strong ride to take third on the stage, while Looserโs consistency across the race secured her the final spot on the overall podium.
In addition to her general classification result, Bone claimed the Intermediate Sprint competition, adding the First Ascent Velo Jersey to her achievements for the race.
